Montreal, September 24, 2025 Airudi and the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) officially announce the launch of the ENACT project (Empowering Nurses with AI for Care Transformation). Developed for and with nurses, this initiative aims to transform their daily practice by automating administrative tasks, optimizing workforce planning, and freeing up valuable time for what matters most: direct patient care. The announcement was made during ALL IN, Canada’s largest AI event.

Freeing nurses from administrative tasks

An internal study conducted in 2024 revealed that nurses spent too much of their shift away from their patients’ bedsides, as their daily routine also involved writing documents, communicating with the team, studying files, preparing nursing reports, and performing other administrative tasks. . The ENACT project is a concrete response to these challenges. The tool is being co-designed in close collaboration with MUHC nurses, ensuring that their experience and clinical priorities directly shape its development.

“This project is aligned with our vision of sustainable, collaborative and valued nursing practice. ENACT is not intended to replace nurses, but to provide them with powerful tools to better support their clinical decisions and daily work. In practical terms, we would like to give each nurse an extra hour per week at the patient’s bedside,” says Alain Biron, Director of Nursing at the MUHC.

ENACT: AI Serving Nursing Care

By integrating artificial intelligence directly into nursing workflows, ENACT is built on a strong conviction: nurses are the heart of healthcare. Their expertise should be devoted to patients, not administrative tasks.

Developed by Airudi in partnership with MUHC, the platform includes key features:

  • Workforce allocation optimization, using algorithms that consider case complexity and staff skills.
  • Task delegation and prioritization, to support daily clinical decisions and ensure efficient workflows.
  • Documentation automation and simplification, with intelligent note population and shift summaries.

The project targets five priority challenges: reducing documentation burden, improving handover efficiency, optimizing patient assignments, supporting workforce management, and increasing direct patient care time.

“We are proud to contribute to this project, which perfectly illustrates how artificial intelligence can be integrated ethically and sustainably into the healthcare environment. Together, we are creating concrete solutions that reflect the real needs of healthcare teams,” says Pape Wade, co-founder and CEO of Airudi.

AI as a partner, not a substitute

The deployment of ENACT will take place in several phases starting in September 2025. The modules will be tested at the Montreal General Hospital beginning in November 2025, with full deployment planned for December 2026.

With ENACT, MUHC positions itself as a leader in healthcare innovation and reaffirms its commitment to putting technology at the service of healthcare professionals and, ultimately, patients.

“The ENACT tool will allow us to demonstrate how technological innovation can add value to the human experience, both for staff and for patients and their families. By freeing up nurses’ time, we are improving the quality and safety of the care we provide to our patients,” said Dr. Lucie Opatrny, President and Executive Director of the MUHC.

ENACT, representing a $1.8 million investment, is made possible thanks to the financial support of the Montreal General Hospital Foundation and Scale AI, helping to accelerate this transformation in support of nursing care.
